TMN: (Laughing out Loud) “I like that, I really like that”! Being a young black successful, hardworking woman you may agree that the female youth of today often are seen walking their own paths. Within the job fields of acting, modeling, dancing and writing you may immediately inherit the title of celebrity and the responsibility that you potentially may have an influence on your fans/followers. What message would you like to share with the female youth of today and what values do you strive to live by?
Jazmia: My message is that the feminine nature of being a woman is so powerful. Your feminine nature and sexuality is your greatest asset and also your biggest responsibility, so own it and love it, don’t make anybody a subordinate because of it, but also don’t make yourself subordinate by being conscious of only an obvious way of using it. That can be dangerous and it can be detrimental to yourself and the people around you, it can be dangerous to your progress. I just think it’s important for other women to know that it all starts with us and yourself, so just love it and embrace it and care for it, and respect it.
TMN: “Great message”. I am truly excited for you and the work that you are doing, so I am sure your family is as well? What have your family and friends done to support you?
Jazmia: “Mann” (Chuckles), the question is what haven’t they done for me, you know what I mean! They’re just full of love, just since day 1 since I made the decision that this is what I want to do they’ve gone above and beyond. My best friend in high school even did my homework for me one time because I was just so tired. I had this Science project due and she did it for me because I was just so spent. My family, they do everything from providing for me financially, being there when I needed a shoulder to cry on, they just never failed me and that’s my biggest blessing. So they do everything for me.
TMN: “That’s great, I’m glad to hear that because that’s what we need nowadays, because family is so important, with them we can do anything”. If you had a choice to work with anyone, who would it be?
Jazmia: Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! (Giggling)
TMN: “In your large facet of talents, you can pick anyone you want”.
Jazmia: I would like to work with Spike Lee for sure, Prince I would love to dance background for him. Zoe Saldana I admire her, Kanye West, and I would like to work on the television show Glee. I mean, there’s Broadway, there are so many you can open up a can of worms, there is so much I would love to do with so many people but those are just a few. Modeling, I would love to do, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, & Victoria secret. All of that “Think big, go big”.
TMN: “That’s great”. If you weren’t dancing, modeling, acting, or writing what do you think would be doing with your life now?
Jazmia: I would be opening up a luxurious beauty spa for hair, nails, makeup, massage, and all the girlish stuff. That was my dream when I was younger outside of this. I would play with my Grandmas makeup all the time and I learned how to do my own pedicures, and manicures and hair, so the dream was I would open up a luxury beauty spa where women can get all it done in one place.
TMN: “Well after you’re done with all of your careers it is something you can still do, the ladies would absolutely love that”. Let us know if there is a particular project that you’re working on. Something that you may be able to reveal or plug, for us to keep an eye out for. Also, where can we find you in cyber-world and how can we keep up with your work.
Jazmia: Recently I worked on my Holiday Master Class Series at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts. It was a master class. A beginner’s modern dance class for ages 7-12 and a contemporary intermediate/advance dance class for ages 13 and up. I will be revisiting that project in the near future. I also would like to take on the project of releasing an EP. The other things I am have coming up for 2012 can not yet be revealed unfortunately, I’m sorry. TMN: We appreciate the love and the hard work you do! TMN wishes you much success and accomplishment in all of your future projects. TMN will be sure to keep up with you and support you in all that you do. Do you have anything to add upon conclusion of this interview?
